CHURCH OF GOD DELIVERS FOOD AND A SMILE TO FAMILIES OF THE DOMINICAN WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN UPPER MANHATTAN
Manhattan branches of the World Mission Society Church of God celebrated Women’s History Month with the Dominican Women’s Development Center in Upper Manhattan on Sunday, March 18, 2012.
To continue the nine-week Good Samaritan Campaign, volunteers hosted a Cheer Up Rally and donated 3,500 lbs. of canned food and 120 MetroCards to the 200 women and families of DWDC’s domestic violence program. These were donated by New York residents, local businesses and volunteers of the Church of God who worked together for this much needed event.
DWDC and the World Mission Society Church of God put their commitment to serve their community into action. The Cheer Up Rally warmly welcomed the women visiting the Center and offered mini-makeovers and fun activities for their children. Afterward, guests received a box of canned food for their families, a MetroCard for transportation to and from the Center, and a gift bag as a special treat.
While thanking the guests and staff of the DWDC for allowing the World Mission Society Church of God to host such an inspirational event, representatives of the Church of God expressed what Women’s History Month means to them in relation to the Church’s teachings and core values. As a Christian church believing in God the Father and God the Mother testified in the Bible, the Church of God revealed that Heavenly Mother has come to this earth to serve as a Wonderful Counselor for Her children.
Now it is clear that God does not only understand our circumstances as humans, but even understands our most special circumstances as women. Heavenly Mother’s teachings of humility, servitude and love are the firm foundation of the World Mission Society Church of God.
